American Baseball Player Kyle Lohse

Kyle Lohse (an ex-American professional baseball player) played in Major League Baseball, Major League Baseball (MLB), with the Minnesota Twins.

Kyle Lohse was a student at Hamilton Union High School and was born October 4, 1978 in Ord Bend. Kyle Lohse was born to a mother of Native American, Filipino and German ancestry. Lohse was inspired by his parents’ success as athletes. Lohse’s Native American heritage is part of California’s Nomlaki Tribe. Lohse didn’t consider himself to be anything but “American” as the Nomlaki tribe was not reestablished until 1996. In North Central California, the Nomlaki tribe lives in the Sacramento valley. Some Nomlaki are currently enrolled in federally recognized tribes such as the Round Valley Indian Tribes and Grindstone Indian Rancheria. The Nomlaki lived in a border area that included the Wintu in north, Yana in northeast and northeast, the Konkow in east, Patwin in south, Yuki in west, and the Yana in southeast. The Yuki, their west-facing neighbors, are often their enemies. However they still trade with them. Their east neighbors are Konkow and Yana. Every Nomlaki village was home to between 25-200 people. Men in the village chose a headman to lead them in ceremonies and food gatherings. Nomlaki tribes used deerskin to make their clothing. The houses were constructed from bent saplings that were then tied at the top with grass thatch. Hunting was the work of the men. Boys were taught to hunt very early in their lives. Hunting was usually done using a bow or arrow. For hunting, a mahogany knobbed throwing stick was used. Trading was common between villages and families, as well with neighbouring tribes. Some considered trading their specialty.

Kyle Lohse, a native Californian who attended Butte College, was drafted to the Major Leagues. Kyle Lohse pitches with four pitches. Lohse can throw a fastball, slider, changeup and curveball. Lohse used a 4-seam fastball to start his major league career. Lohse was able to pitch the two-seam fastball after signing with St. Louis Cardinals. This was an important step in his career. He is known for being a strong pitcher and able to induce many ground balls. Although he isn’t well-known for walking many hitters, he is also not a good strikeout pitcher. However, he did reach a new career-high of 143 strikeouts in just 211 innings in 2012. Kyle Lohse has played baseball for several MLB teams.

Kyle Lohse in 1996 was selected in 29th place at the Major League Baseball Draft. Lohse was, however, traded to Jason Ryan by the Minnesota Twins in exchange for Ryan Aguilera or Scott Downs. Lohse was able to make his MLB debut in Minnesota Twins’ uniform on June 22, 2001. Lohse had a 2003 record of 13-8, with a 4.23 ERA. Lohse was eventually sent down to AAA Rochester in May 2006 when the Twins selected Boof Bonser as their replacement pitcher. Lohse however was recalled on June 9, 2006, after Matt Guerrier broke the thumb. Lohse received a trade to the Cincinnati Reds in July 2006 from Zach Ward. He made his Reds debut August 17th. Lohse’s performance declined slightly after he was traded to Philadelphia by the Phillies in July 2007. Lohse moved to St. Louis Cardinals for the 2008 World Series. They won it in 2011. In that same season, Lohse won his 100th victory as a pitcher. He led the Cardinals in wins with 14 and a 3.39 ERA. Kyle Lohse was signed to a three-year contract worth $33 million by the Milwaukee Brewers in March 2013.

After two unsuccessful games, Lohse signed a $2million contract to the Texas Rangers. Lohse declined his assignment and became an unpaid agent on July 31, 2016.
