Life And Death Of Saint Cecilia

Saint Cecilia lived from 200 A.D. to 230 A.D. She is the patroness of Musicians. St. Cecilia was a Roman virgin, whose family was wealthy. She was married to Valerian. She wore rough cloth called sackcloth. She fasted. Then she prayed for the Virgins, Saints and Angels to protect it. During her wedding ceremony, she sang to God with her heart and just before her wedding was over, she told him that an Angel had protected her virginity. Cecilia’s husband Valerian asked to see her angel. She told him to wait until he reached the Appian Way third milestone to be able see. He had to be baptized. Valerian then returned to Cecilia’s side and saw a beautiful angel. Cecilia’s necklace was made of roses and Lilies by an angel. Valerian Tiberius learned about the baptism of his brother and also wanted a baptism. Valerian Tiberius and Valerian were both baptized together and committed their lives each day to burying those who had been murdered.

Valerian’s brother was also arrested, and they were both executed when they refused to make a sacrifice for the gods. Cecilia was busy teaching while her husband and brother buried their dead. She converted most of her converts by having them baptized. St. Cecilia’s arrest came after that of her husband and brother in law. Cecilia, who was kept in a small room all day and night for a whole night was ordered to be strangled. St. Cecilia did not sweat despite the heat and fires. Almachius was informed of the situation and sent someone out to sever her head. The strangler was unsuccessful in his attempts to remove her head. Cecilia remained alive for three full days. She was begging for blood from people who came. On her third day of life, she was dead and buried by Pope Urban’s Deacons. St. Cecilia, the patron saint for music, is so named because she heard heavenly music while getting married. In the picture, St. Cecilia is holding a pipe or an organ. Her body, which was discovered to be uncorrupted in 1599 was revealed. First of all saints to be incorrupt, she wore gold-stitched dress and was covered in silk. The coffin emitted an unidentified beautiful floral odor. St. Cecilia was reburied in Trastevere’s titular Cecilia church under the high-altar. The church of Cecilia rebuilt in 1599 was Cardinal Paolo Emilio Sfondrati. She kept her promise. She followed it by obeying the Ten Commandments, and she believed strongly in God and Angels.

Saint Cecilia gained sainthood because she was always willing to help. She helped those in poverty, provided water for those who did not have it, assisted the homeless and gave clothes to people who were in need. Saint Cecilia endured three days of suffering before dying. She prayed frequently and was very close with God. I think Saint Cecilia’s sainthood was due to her kindness and generosity. She also prayed to god a lot. She was very loyal to God. Although she was married, her virginity was kept. I chose Saint Cecilia because of her kind nature and concern for others.
